Mr StabbsHead Teacher

Hello and Welcome

My name is Graham Stabbs and I am presently the Headteacher of Warden House School. I've been Headteacher at Warden House for over six years and have been a headteacher for a total of 16 years.

Warden House is a large 'Extended School'  which means that in addition to the normal learning opportunities that you would expect of any school, we are able to provide for you a breakfast and  after school clubs and holiday childcare facilities meaning that our school is open all year round. We were pleased that last December (2006) Ofsted rated our provision for child care and child development as Outstanding a fact about which we feel justly proud. We are officially classed as a Healthy School and have achieved the Active Mark and the Inclusion Quality Mark.

Attending our school are around 400 pupils of which their welfare and development is our first priority. To support our pupils and their learning we employ most capable teachers, teaching assistants, dinner supervisors a Family Liaison Officer, staff who lead our out of hours activities welcoming administration staff, caretaker and cleaners all who help to make our school a happy and supportive environment which we hope that you will find when you come to visit.

There is a pre-school on site which has achieved 'Beacon Status' and it is, therefore, our view that we can offer, if you so wish, education and childcare from two to eleven years of age from 8.a.m. to 6. p.m.  throughout the year, which we hope can further support parents in managing their time and the welfare of our pupils.

We are pleased that we benefit from extensive grounds and there are many activities planned across the year for our pupils. We have two playgrounds, a large field and a hall which enables us to provide a wide range of clubs and activities including soccer, rugby, netball, cricket, gymnastics, golf and athletics. For those of you who prefer something less sporting we run a choir, a cookery club, an art club, Green Gang and French Club. We provide opportunities for our pupils to learn brass, stringed, woodwind and percussion instruments (presently 34 pupils learn drumming in our arts centre) and our pupils are encouraged to regularly perform in concerts and in Assembly. Our extended school ethos also allows for children and adults to learn Karate and Judo on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and though we are not a church school the Deal Apostolic Church meets in our school hall every Sunday and the Scouts and Beavers meet weekly in their own hut based on our site where they too can benefit from the use of our extensive grounds.

Apart from all the subjects that you would expect to find in a school's curriculum including R.E. and Personal, Social and Health Education; Year 4 have the opportunity to visit France on our annual residential visit and Year 6 enjoy their own residential visit to the Isle of Wight for a week in June. We teach our pupils to swim at Tides in Deal from five years of age and our eldest pupils take part in the annual Swimming Gala. We encourage pupils to be active and involved in our school including serving in our playground equipment games shop (which enables all our pupils to be active at break times), to train to be buddies, to serve on the School Council and to look after our many animals that live at our school.

We are lucky that we have a wonderful PTA who organise many of events such as the Christmas and Summer Fayres, the Easter Egg Hunt, Discos and our famous Firework display. Their support has allowed us to provide an increasing range of playground activities and equipment.

I really enjoy my job at Warden House the children and staff are very kind and helpful and I am often asked to praise work and to hand out regular rewards and stickers; though sometimes I do have to be a little stricter!!

If you would like to look around please ring our school office to make an appointment and I will be more than pleased to show you around. I look forward to meeting you in the near future.

 Kindest regards
