Mission Statement
Our Mission Statement is very important to us as we regard it as the foundations for the rest of our school life:

Uniform
We ask all our children to wear our simple, smart uniform, which is very adaptable for all needs and requirements.

Jumpers, ties, bookbags and P.E. bags can all be purchased after school on Fridays. Prices are:

When children are doing PE, we ask that they have shorts, (tracksuit bottoms in the winter), T-shirt and plimsolls. If children wish to use one of the great outdoor climbing frames during break times, they must wear suitable trainers for safety. All PE bags and trainers can be kept at school during school terms on each child's designated peg or if you have older children, in their school lockers.
Please could we remind all parents and carers to label their child's clothes, plimsolls and trainers, so that we can make sure that everyone has their own clothes on! We do have a lost property trunk if children do mislay their belongings, but with over 400 children it can be a daunting task to wade through so many dark blue jumpers!
School Meals
Our dinner times are split into two dinner sittings. The first is at 12 noon for Reception and Key Stage 1 children. The second begins at 12.30pm for Key Stage 2 children.
Our school meals are cooked on the premises and all of our dinner ladies and lunch time supervisors work stringently to provide a happy and enjoyable environment during the school lunch hours.
The meals are nutritious and popular amongst the children. However, we are continually updating and introducing new healthier options within the meals with some excellent results. Please click here for menu details and further information. www.wholeschoolmeals.co.uk/menus.html
For just £1.95 per day, your child could be enjoying one of these tasty dinners.
If you think that your child may be eligible for free school dinners, please come and talk to us in the office and we will be pleased to help you to organise this.
If your child would like to try a school dinner, please let your child's teacher know on the day.

What to do if your child is away from school
Please phone us as soon as you know that your child will be unable to attend school. Our office is manned from 8am everyday, or please leave a message on our answering machine. If you know when your child will be coming back, please let us know, so that we can inform the teacher.
When you child returns to school, please ensure that you have written a letter explaining why your child has been away. We are required, by law, to give reasons for absence for any length of time, so please help us to keep our records up to date. It is also very useful to know reasons for absences, so that our teachers and staff can further support your child in any way.
If you are planning to take your child out of school for any reason (for example a holiday) please give as much notice as possible. Although we do not recommend that you take your child on holiday during school time, if you would like your child to have any specific challenges to do on holiday, or would like any educational aids, please speak to your child's teacher as soon as possible. When planning holidays, please ensure that you avoid the very important testing period, which takes place every May.

If you cannot pick your child up from school
If you are running late to pick your child up, please do not panic! Please phone our office as soon as you realise that you will be late and we will ensure that your child is safe.
If you would like someone else to pick your child up on a particular day, please let the office know, so that the teacher can tell your child and make sure that they leave with the correct person.

Head Lice
It is an unfortunate fact of any school's life that at some point in time, your child may come home with head lice. Please remember, that there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Please make sure that you check your immediate family and tell your child's close friends. It would also be useful if you could tell your child's teacher, so that we can try to limit the spread of head lice.
If you are worried about using chemicals on the scalp, we would recommend that you wet the hair with ordinary conditioner and using a plastic lice comb, comb through the hair all the way to the roots. If you wipe the comb on a tissue from time to time, you will be able to see if you have caught any lice.
Combing removes lice, but not their eggs. You will therefore need to repeat this combing at least 3 times a week for a couple of weeks, even after you have stopped finding the lice.
If you are thinking of using special head lice lotion and your child has eczema or asthma, please speak to your pharmacist first.

School History
The school is a housed in a modern building with two brand new class rooms for the Year 6 students. However, the school itself is a lot older than the bricks that make up the building and in 2005, the school was very honoured to celebrate its centenary. The mosiac outside the main entrance celebrates this wonderful milestone.
The head teacher, Mr. Stabbs has been running the school for 6 years and has been in teaching for nearly 30 years. He is a very dynamic head teacher and has brought about many changes in his time with us, including the breakfast and after school club, bringing a nursery into the grounds and championing the organisation of the building works for the new classrooms. He is a very kind and caring head teacher, although can be strict when necessary! He is instrumental in heading the team of teachers and support staff and ensuring that the whole school, the community, the parents and the children all work together for the benefit of the children.
The school has a two class intake per year and benefits from an excellent teacher and teaching assistant team who have a wide variety of skills and teaching experience to help all the children achieve their maximum potential whilst at Warden House.
The school boasts large grounds, including two playgrounds, large fields and even a pond. We often host football and netball tournaments for the local schools throughout the year.

Breakfast Club
We run a very popular Breakfast Club every morning from 08.00am until school starts at 8.45am.
The children are given breakfast (cereals, toast etc) and a drink. There are lots of fun things for the children to do; making things, colouring, toys and games.
We charge £2.00 per session. If you are interested in your child joining our Breakfast Club, please ask in the office for more details.

After School Club
The newly refurbished After School Club offers a wide range of facilities for children from 3.15pm until 6.15pm every day through the term and all days during school holidays. As well as the facilities in the After School Club building, we also have the added advantage of being able to use the school outdoor facilities when weather permits. The children at our club are never bored and can choose from directed activities (creative projects), playing with toys and games or just chilling out in front of the telly. We charge £6.20 per session. If your child is interested in joining, please ask in the office for more details.
The After School Club runs a Holiday Club throughout the school breaks (every week day, except bank holidays). It is open from 8am until 6.15pm and costs £20 for a whole day and £13.50 for half a day. If your child is interested in joining, please ask in the office for more details.

After School Activites and Clubs
We have many after school clubs at Warden House, some which run all year round and some more specialist ones which normally run for a period of six weeks. Clubs are open to all children, depending on the nature of the subject.
Due to the popularity of many clubs, places are limited. However, we try to be as fair as possible and often hold children's names in reserve. If you child is interested in a particular club, please ensure that you have filled in the request form and handed it in by the due date.
Art Club is on a Monday after school. Places are allocated on merit via an art competition at the start of the academic year. Each week, there is a different emphasis on the work that is created and is often themed relevant to the time of year.
Green Gang is a very popular club open to all ages. Work includes bird watching, making bird feeders, planting bulbs, pond work, recycling, making plant pots and much much more. The club is held every Wednesday after school, throughout the academic year and children are asked to bring old clothes to get changed into.
Football training is for years 5 & 6 only and is on a Wednesday
Netball club
Golf club
Cookery club is run in 6 week blocks for reception and Key Stage 1 children. Children learn to make pizzas, cakes, biscuits, cheese straws and lots more yummy things!
Gym Clubs - We hold several gym clubs after school, run by our resident gym coaches. The lessons are split by Key Stages and children learn gym skills at their own pace.
Music - Your child can also have private or joint music lessons (guitar, drums, recorder, wind instruments) or join the school choir.

Outside Clubs held in school grounds
We have many clubs and associations who use our facilities outside school hours.
Karate lessons are held for all age groups on Thursday evenings from 6pm and are very popular with children, mums and dads alike!
The scout hut on our playing field holds weekly Beavers and Scout meetings.
If you would like to rent our school hall for meetings or community club, please ask at the school office for more details.

Bright Sparks Nursery
The school is very privileged to have one of the leading nurseries in the area within its grounds. Bright Sparks nursery has just been given permission, from Ofsted for 40 children per session.
This has enabled the nursery to begin expansion plans.
The nursery is open to children over 2 years old. It is open from 9am until 4pm every week day throughout the year (please ask the nursery for days when they are closed).
The children who go to Bright Sparks Nursery who then come to our school are advantaged in many ways. The children are used to the school grounds and so appear to find the transition between nursery and school that little bit easier. As well as knowing many other children also moving into the reception year, our two reception teachers are able to spend time at the nursery during the summer term introducing themselves to the children and answering any questions that they may have. Equally during the first few weeks of Reception, any child who is missing their teachers from the nursery often have the chance to see them in the playground for a friendly, reassuring chat.

The governors come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring different skills to the governing body, however the common aim is to promote and develop Warden House as a successful school, achieving high quality results, in a caring and supportive environment.
Should anyone be interested in the work of the governors, or how to become a governor they should contact Mrs. Taylor for further information.

PTA
What is a PTA?????
A PTA or Parent Teacher Association is an association to which all parents with children at the school and certain elected teachers belong. The committee are the team of volunteers, both staff and parents who meet to arrange and run events and fundraising.
We have an outstanding PTA at Warden House. As a parent with a child at Warden House you will automatically become a member of the PTA but we would love to welcome some new parents to the PTA committee. We are keen to put the skills of the parents in the school to the best use for our PTA and our children.
The PTA committee is made up of five elected officers (see below) and a number of ordinary committee members. Whether you would like to help set up at the occasional event of whether you have a particular skill to offer please come and join us. You can contact us through anyone on the committee or through the school office.
Our next PTA meeting, which is open to all parents, is held in July. Please come along and let us know your views and opinions on how we could run the PTA and school better.
The team of Officers and Committee Members work very hard to organise fund raising social events.
